The path illuminated: By Lance Taylor

2 Corinthians 5:7

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

The struggle is the blessing. Walking by faith through the struggle is meant for us to grow stronger, so we can carry the blessings that lay ahead; to endure until the darkness and confusion fades and the light of clarity illuminates our path once again.

Matthew 3:11

I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Jesus came to baptize with the fire of the Spirit so that we may repent and be purified and cleansed from unrighteous negative thinking and living. The Spirit of God will guide and protect us if we simply ask and seek for His will in our lives. Walking with Jesus, led by the Holy Spirit always involves a leap of faith through the fear of the unknown. All we need to see is what the light provides right in front of us to walk the path of righteousness. A personal faith in Christ illuminates the path one step at a time.

Galatians 5:16-17

16: So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17: For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

It is our own adversary that hides truth behind lies. This fear, the lies we tell ourselves, or choose to believe can keep us stuck without a leap of faith into the mysterious love of God. Once we take the leap, the veil begins to be lifted and we grow closer day by day in our purpose for God, ourselves, and for His people.

Application:

Make a list of the fears that hold you back from achieving your goals in life. Start out small; taking baby steps towards overcoming these irrational beliefs that hold you back from joy and success. If you have a fear of speaking in public or to strangers, start out by looking passers-by in the eyes and saying hello. Try to see the good in the people you come in to contact with each day. Getting out of our comfort zones can be as easy as just asking a stranger how their day is going. Do something healthy that scares you a little each day, week, or month. Before long these little challenges of overcoming fears will turn into the victory of change and success.
